PRINCESS ANNE, Md–The Hawks are back in the Hytche Center for the last time this season, where they face off against MEAC opponent Norfolk State University in a Senior Night volleyball match. UMES, posting a 9-11 record, are graduating five seniors, including leading scorer Ranyla Griggs, and talented libero Isil Yilmaz. With the Hawks being 4-5 in the MEAC, a win against the 10-12 Spartans– who also is 4-5 in conference play– would give them a .500 record, which would be good momentum heading into D.C. this Sunday. The Hawks are not just looking for a win to look better on paper, but a perfect final home game result for all the seniors who have made up UMES volleyball for the past four years.
