SMYRNA, Del — The Smyrna Eagles staged a thrilling second-half comeback to defeat the Sussex Central Golden Knights 59-56 in a Henlopen Conference basketball showdown Thursday night. Despite trailing by eight points at halftime, the Eagles found their rhythm in the third quarter, led by standout performances from Aron Johnson and Logan Shaw, to edge out the Golden Knights in front of a raucous home crowd.

The Golden Knights started strong, with senior Brandon Spencer lighting up the scoreboard early. Spencer drained back-to-back three-pointers and dominated the first half, helping Sussex Central build a 24-16 lead at the break. The Eagles struggled offensively in the first half, managing only a few bright spots, including a timely three-pointer by Shaw to keep them in striking distance.
