WILMINGTON, Del - In a dominant display of football, the defending state champion Salesianum Sallies took on the Sussex Central Golden Knights at Abessinio Stadium, jumping to an early lead after a fumbled opening kickoff by Central. The Sallies capitalized on the mistake, with Odell Teel powering through for a big run to put them ahead 6-0 after a missed PAT.

Salesianum’s offense kept rolling in the first half, as quarterback Brady McBride took matters into his own hands, running it up the middle for another touchdown to extend the lead to 12-0. Aiden Lego was the standout star of the night, scoring his first of four touchdowns in the second quarter, giving the Sallies an 18-0 advantage after another failed two-point attempt. Central’s hopes briefly revived when quarterback Bradley Chavez connected with tight end Joaquin Rodriguez, but the play ended in disaster as Rodriguez fumbled the ball, allowing Salesianum to recover and quickly take it deep into Golden Knights territory. Lego finished off the drive with another touchdown, and after a successful PAT, the lead swelled to 25-0.
